Gait analysis for runners.
A systematic assessment of how you move when you run — foot strike, hip control, knee tracking, cadence. The fastest way to expose the pattern behind a recurring injury.
Why runners need it.
Most running injuries aren't caused by a single bad step. They're the result of the same movement fault repeated thousands of times per mile. Gait analysis exposes those patterns while you're actually running so treatment targets the cause, not the symptom.
What we measure.
- Cadence, stride length, and vertical oscillation.
- Foot strike pattern and contact time.
- Hip drop and pelvic control through stance.
- Knee alignment and dynamic valgus at foot contact.
- Trunk lean, arm swing, and cross-body compensation.
The injuries it prevents.
Runner's knee, IT band syndrome, medial tibial stress syndrome, achilles tendinopathy, and plantar fasciitis all trace back to identifiable gait faults. Correcting cadence, hip stability, or foot mechanics upstream is far more durable than icing downstream.
What a session looks like.
We film you running — outside or on a treadmill inside the mobile PT van — walk through the findings, and hand you a corrective drill and cueing plan for your next run.
Questions runners ask.
What do I need to bring to a gait analysis?
Bring the shoes you run in most — ideally more than one pair — plus running clothes that let us see your knees and hips while you move.
Do you use a treadmill or outdoor running for gait analysis?
Both. We can film you outdoors at your location or on the treadmill inside the mobile PT van, depending on where you normally train.
Will changing my running form fix my injury?
Often, partly. Gait retraining like cadence changes or hip control cues removes the repeated stress, but it works best paired with strength and load management.
